The Jones County Board of Commissioners meeting started on a positive note last week with the celebration of two county officials who recently received statewide recognition.

Superior Court Clerk Bart Jackson and Emergency Management Director Don Graham were both honored at the July 1 meeting for being named Clerk of the Year and EMA Director of the Year, respectively.

Jones County/Gray Chamber of Commerce board of directors Chairman John Conn started the recognition by reading and presenting resolutions to Jackson and Graham from the Chamber.

County attorney Frank Childs then read and presented a resolution to Jackson from the Board of Commissioners, and Commissioner Tommy Robinson read and presented a resolution from the board to Graham.

Following those presentations, board Chairman Preston Hawkins gave Jackson and Chamber and Development Authority Executive Director Kathyjo Gordon framed pictures of the courthouses in Georgia suitable for hanging in the courthouse and Chamber. The courthouse pictures were taken by the Association County Commissioners of Georgia and arranged in the shape of the state in celebration of the organization’s 100th birthday.
