The new president of the Macon Bar Association is a familiar sight in the Jones County Courthouse and Board of Commissioners meetings.

William Noland has been the law partner of county attorney Frank Childs since 2006 and was an associate of his firm since 2003. He and Childs not only share their law firm and a close friendship, but the fact that he was named as president of the MBA mirrors Childs’ career.

Noland said it during a casual conversation after his election to the position that the partners realized the similarity. Childs was elected to the Bar in 1973 and was 14 years into his law practice when he was elected MBA president. Noland passed the Bar in 2000, making this his 14th year as a member of the Bar.

Childs has represented Jones County since 1975.

The attorney grew up in central California in the small town of Lemoore but was born in Texas. His mobile family was courtesy of his father, a Navy pilot who spent much of his military career taking off and landing on aircraft carriers.
