The Greyhounds turned up the intensity in preparing for the upcoming football season with a three-day camp at the school this past weekend as they began practice in full pads.

Coach Justin Rogers said he thought the camp went well.

The coaches and players spent Friday and Saturday nights at the school. They practiced Friday night, twice on Saturday and again Sunday morning.

“We got a lot done, and the kids responded well. You put them in a situation like that and you find which ones will battle through and keep working hard, and a lot of them did,” he said. “But you also have a few who looked good in shorts and T-shirts through the summer but didn’t show so well once we put the pads on and started hitting. So some questions came up about a few.”

They still have time to make a better impression as the team shifts to its normal afternoon practice schedule now that school has started. Rogers said the Greyhounds will practice from 4 to 7:30 p.m. weekday afternoons for the next couple of weeks, then shift to a normal game-week practice schedule after that heading into the preseason scrimmage at Locust Grove on Aug. 22.
