The Gray-based Road Runner Track Club has had a stellar 2014 summer season, coach LaMont Thomas reports.

He provided the following rundown of the team and its season:

The track club is geared toward the development of youth track and field athletes from ages 7 to 18. We competed in both AAU and USATF sanctioned meets across the country this season, and we did very well.

The Road Runners began their season by competing at the Mark Trail Invitational in Atlanta and finished the season at the Junior Olympics in Des Moines, Iowa. We as coaches don’t expect our athletes to win all of their races; we just want their best effort. Our motto is “Hard Work Pays Off.”

We had a small team this year, but we were very effective. Our roster consisted of the following athletes.

Zachary Liles, 10, Turner Woods Elementary, 1,500-meter race and 1,500-meter race walk.
