Another week down as the Greyhounds inch closer to the opening of the 2014 football season, and they are itching to play somebody.

But they still have another week and a half to go before they get to hit players from another school.

“Still making progress, but we’re ready to play somebody else,” new coach Justin Rogers said Monday. “We’ve been going at it all summer, and the kids are tired of practicing against each other.

“And us coaches are eager to see how we do against someone else.

“By now, our defense knows just what we do on offense, and our offense knows all about our defense,” he added. “We need to see what somebody else does.”

Rogers, who was the offensive coordinator at Griffin before coming to Jones County, said other places he’s coached the teams had their preseason game two weeks before the season opener.
