GRAY: Milton Harris “Doc” Hatcher, 83, of Deer Ridge Place, died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2014, at a local hospital. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, Aug. 8, graveside, at Cedar Ridge Cemetery. The Rev. Tommy Jordan officiated.

Dr. Hatcher was born Dec. 9, 1930, in Thomson, and had lived in Gray most of his life. He was the son of the late Milton Burns Hatcher and Marie Harris Hatcher. Dr. Hatcher honorably served his country with the U.S. Army and was a member of Central Baptist Church. He was a graduate of the University of Georgia with the distinction of Doctor of Veterinarian Medicine. He was an avid fisherman and gardener and was preceded in death by his devoted dog, Spotty.

Dr. Hatcher is survived by his wife of 28 years, Margie Hatcher; daughter, Dawn Hatcher Etheridge; grandchildren, Joell Etheridge and Tallon Etheridge; stepsons, Lee Burkett, David Burkett and Roger Burkett; six stepgrandchildren; and by eight stepgreat-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Central Baptist Church, P.O. Box 187, Gray, GA 31032.
