Two Jones Countians were arrested last week not only for possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute but also for the additional charge of being in possession of those drugs while being within 1,000 feet of a school.

Brandi Inez Goodson, 27, and Eric Brandon Greene, 29, were arrested around noon Monday, Aug. 11, as the result of an ongoing investigation. Jones County Sheriff’s Department Investigator Robert Reece said they were located leaving the track at Gray Elementary School and arrested near Jones County High School.

He said both are currently being held without bond.

Investigator Lt. Jimmy Black said drug investigators had developed information about the movements of the suspects, and officers were waiting to stop their vehicle when it ran out of gas just past the high school.

“When we saw them on the side of the road, we approached them and introduced ourselves,” Black said.
