The junior varsity Lady Hounds won their first two games and tied their third to start the season last week.

Jones County defeated Georgia Military 9-3 in Gray on Tuesday. Gracli Stokes pitched well for the victory, coach Tripp Burt reported, and Kaylin Curry led the offense with three hits, including a double.

The Lady Hounds whipped Rutland 9-1 in the first game of a double header on Thursday. Stokes again pitched well, and Sierra Horstings and Miranda Moore scored two runs each.

Shelby Fontenot and Alyssa Barreth both pitched well in the second game, Burt said, but the game ended in a tie due to darkness.

Gray Station second

The Gray Station Lady Hounds opened the season with a pair of victories last week, then finished second in the Across the Tracks tournament at the South Recreation Complex off Ga. 49 on Saturday.

Coach Mandy Vaughn reported that Kloey Goins pitched a no-hitter in a 16-1 victory over Crawford County on Tuesday. Lauren Carr went 3-for-3 with two RBIs, MacKenzie Kilpatrick went 2-for-3, and Maddie Knight went 2-for-4 with a home run to lead the offense.
