Cline was 62 at the time of this death and lived in Greensboro.
He was appointed to the bench in July of 1995 by Gov. Zell Miller. Cline was well known to many in Jones County because, in addition to being a judge, he served as assistant district attorney for eight years while Joe Briley was the district attorney.
He was appointed by Miller to serve out the term vacated by Briley when he retired in August of 1994.
Cline ran for the position in the November 1994 election but lost to Fred Bright, who still serves the Ocmulgee Circuit district attorney.
Following the election, the judge went to work as an assistant district attorney for the Macon Judicial Circuit in the Bibb County office.
