A Jones County man received a 20-year sentence after pleading guilty to child molestation, with eight of those years served in confinement.

Todd Austin Kohlmayer was in Superior Court May 23 to enter his plea. He was represented in the court proceeding by defense attorney Ashley Cooper, and the case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Cara Fiore.

Chief Superior Court Judge Brenda Trammell accepted the negotiated plea. Kohlmayer was indicted by a Jones County Grand Jury April 5, 2022, for two counts of aggravated child molestation.

The defendant will receive credit for time served in custody from his Jan. 26, 2022, arrest.

The report of Kohlmayer’s arrest by Jones County Sheriff Office Sgt. Kasey Carr states he was dispatched to the complainant’s address Jan. 23, 2022, in reference to the six-year-old victim telling her about an assault.

Carr spoke to the complainant and then talked to the victim. The sergeant said the victim told him about Kohlmayer’s touching of private parts and other contact that caused pain and bleeding. The officer said he spoke to another family member, to whom the victim had confided, and all the stories matched.

The victim was interviewed the next day at the Crescent House in Macon, and the interview was recorded. The interview was observed by JCSO Investigator Lt. Kenny Gleaton.

In his report about the interview, Gleaton said the victim disclosed multiple incidents of sexual abuse in detail.

Warrants were obtained, and Kohlmayer was arrested Jan. 26, 2022.

Fiore presented the facts of the case to the court, and before accepting the plea, Trammell asked Kohlmayer if he admitted to the facts as presented. The defendant acknowledged he was guilty.
