The Jones County Senior Center recently hosted a Senior Golden Gala that included seven senior centers from around Middle Georgia. Jones County Senior Center Director Sharon Turner said the April 3 event was a thank you to the other senior centers who had previously hosted Jones County seniors in events in their counties.

Darquis Grant, JCHS class of 2018, was recently accepted to Mercer University School of Medicine. He graduated with a B.S. in Biology from Kennesaw State University, where he was involved in STEM research, held a leadership position in Student Government as the Director of Diversity & Inclusion, and was a member of the Wind Symphony.

Gray City Council members had a brief called meeting prior to their regular Meeting of All Committees last week. Mayor Ed Barbee called the April 15 council meeting to order.

M.A.G.S Life Changing Destiny recently held a CPR training class for children, so they could gain the skills to be able to save lives wherever they go. Senesta Roberson, the business owner and CPR coach, said she was happy to help the children learn CPR.

April is child abuse prevention awareness month, and Jones County Family Connection has put out pinwheels around the community to make people aware of the importance of child abuse prevention. Joy Carr, coordinator for Jones County Family Connection, said local businesses have put out pinwheels and wore blue on April 12 to help the community become better informed of child abuse prevention awareness month.
